The Rest of the Story
Back in the summer of 1998, a bored high school student, looking for a way to escape the doldrums of June and July, decided he wanted to create a website dedicated to his favorite show and arguably biggest influence at the time, The Simpsons. Of course, this wasn't just some simple task. At the time, there were several issues that would have to be resolved. First, this student had no knowledge of HTML coding, for his family had only purchased a modern computer a couple months earlier. Second, at the time, there were no good WYSIWYG editors for websites, Frontpage being the best available to this young man. A person hoping to use an editor had to hand code most everything anyways to get it to look right. So this student was on a mission. Hours a day he read tutorials online about the basics of HTML, starting with basic tags, moving through tables, experimenting with forms, and eventually wowing the crowds with frames. This one summer goal of creating a site as a shrine to his favorite TV family spawned a lifetime of passion for web development, eventually upgrading to the wonderful world of PHP, MySQL, and javascript/jQuery. And that young, bored high school student, looking for a way to pass the time those many years ago, grew up to become Blaine Jones: Web Developer.
...And now you know the rest of the story.

Wanting a fresh look to their site and wanting to rank better in the search engines, this company approached me to design their new site, which has improved their bounce rate. The request from this client was simple - they wanted a site the looked and functioned great, and they wanted it to be powered by Wordpress on the backend. All the pages have been designed with a corresponding page in the Wordpress admin, and each page can have its own customized sidebar

Elden's Food Fair
Wanting a site that had bells and whistles and offered customers the latest ways to stay informed, this client didn't have the luxury of a large store chain's budget. I researched ways to recreate items that they saw in Flash on other sites with jQuery, cutting down development time. I also created a system, whereby the client can queue up an entire week's worth of Facebook, Twitter, and SMS alerts at one time, thereby cutting down the maintenance required each week to post these alerts. Using tools available, the sending of these alerts also comes at no cost to the client, even with the sending of SMS alerts.

Southwest Microwave
This client wanted to create a system that simplifies all the hundred+ pages from their parts catalog into a site that helps customers find the right parts quickly. When a part is chosen, all relevent accessories are shown. All parts and accessories can be added to a project cart, which can then be submitted for a quote directly through the website. The goal of the site was to make finding parts in a confusing catalog no longer necessary.

Your Authority Service
This client is in the trucking permit and insurance business. They wanted a system where customers can fill out their permit applications online. Based on a customers answers, all applicable forms are displayed, and at the end of the application process, the total application cost is totalled and customers can pay right through the site. The information is then sent for processing at the client's office.

The slogan of this store is "Make Everyday an Occasion" - with this in mind, I created an advanced calendar system that is used to display not just store events, but users can create accounts and add their own specific dates and occasions to their own calendar. Their is also a birthday club, which automatically sends out a birthday coupon via email on a user's birthday.
